well, i thought i should start off with telling u all about what happens in our patio. We live on the ground floor, first floor, acc to USA terminology, and we have this seat, n patio chairs. There is this black cat which began to frequent our patio in the daytime, possibly to escape the heat, n lounge in the shade created by the seat being there in our patio. We also had a bird feeder some distance away. well, we began to keep water out for the cat, sometimes put some biscuits etc...but the cat refused to eat any of it. The water dish would be half empty the next day morning...but we were never sure whether the cat actually drank the water out oif thirst,or did it just evaporate in the heat. Anyway, it began to get used to us slowly, n didn't run away the moment we opened the door, n came out. My husband n i began to note its characteristics. It used to sit, n stare at us, as if we were the intruders . It couldn't care less about us being there, was the vibes that we got about the cat. it sat in the shade n watched my husband use the electric drill, power saw, n hammer away at things etc. Normally, it used to scamper away at the slightest noise. Now this.
However, as they say, we can never predict. One fine day, we found a dead bird in our patio. The cat had killed it, n scampered away somewhere. We were quite distressed. We cleaned up the place. And hoped that it wouldn't occur again. However, before the week had elapsed, I found another bird just outside our patio. Seems the cat did it again. this time, the cat had completed its mission, n fulfilled its hunger. Only the wings of the bird remained, n feathers scattered on our patio again, as a gruesome reminder to the struggle that would have taken place with the bird trying to escape. from then on, the cat is persona non Grata. My husband and i do a check every two hours or so, to see if the cat has come back to bask in the shade. And if it is there, we immediately chase it away. It dare not kill/ eat another Bird in my patio. No wonder it didn't eat any of the cat food we got for it. We gullible humans, thought it was a pretty old cat, that had probably lost its hearing, n hunting capabilities. It never reacted when we called out to it.
Well, this is the story of the humans, birds, n cats. Either the pigeons are too dumb to realise that the cat is waiting to eat them, n keep coming back to our home, even with no bird feed in . Or The cat is too clever. Wait, watch, kill, eat-policy.
I have now planned to get a pet dog. Anything to keep the cat away from my patio.
