I catch the latest episodes of the very first singing competition show on Indian television network, Zee Tv. Its called Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Catching up on that, I watched the videos of a 10 yr old girl, called Vasundhara Raturi. An absolutely amazing voice. Vasundhara sings little nuances and lilts in the songs, like only professionals can. She picks up, and sings beautifully, every high and low note, every pitch is perfect. I was just so moved, i had tears in my eyes.
Why? This singing sensation from Delhi, is visually impaired. She is blind. Yet, she has so much energy,and so much charisma, that the judges on the show have been ga -ga about her since she stepped on the stage. One of the permanent judges on the show, Sonu Nigam, an accomplished movie playback singer himself, (and erstwhile anchor of the show)came on stage,and lifted her up, saying this was his way of giving vasundhara a standing ovation.
God closes one door, but opens another, surely.
